Cryptocurrency-only exchanges

Some other exchanges do not offer a fiat gateway and have chosen to only offer bitcoin to altcoins pairs. They usually have more coin listed and better privacy.

To use those exchanges, you have to buy bitcoin or altcoins from a fiat-able one then transfer them between each other.

Local exchanges

Here is a list of location-oriented exchanges, they may let you work with exotic currencies, and use country-dependent deposit methods.
They are less known (to me) than other exchanges, and therefore less trusted.
